His Promises Never Fail 8/10/2025

Aug 10, 2025

This is an exciting time in history when the church as we know it was still young in its formation. The first part of Jesus’ ministry was solely to the Jewish people. His disciples were Jewish, He was Jewish, and He preached in the synagogues. They thought Jesus belonged just to them and that He was a continuation of their story. Paul is trying to communicate to the Roman church that yes, God sent Jesus first to the Jews to fulfill a promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob that He would send a savior to their descendants, then to the Gentiles to welcome them all into the kingdom of God. Paul quotes from four different places in the OT to show that God’s plan extended to the Jews AND beyond the Jewish believers to the Gentiles (aka everyone else). This fulfillment of prophecy tells us today that our God is trustworthy and reliable, and nothing about Him is false or deceptive. We must look to Jesus as our example. He reached out to everyone, and we must also welcome each person who comes to our door searching for unity, hope, and love within a community of believers.
