The Debt of Love 07/13/2025
Last week, we explored Paul's call to be peacemakers and agents of reconciliation, sowing seeds of peace, confident that God will use even our smallest efforts to bring about His healing in the world. Building on his command to submit to civil authorities (Romans 13:1-7), in this week's passage, Paul highlights love as a lasting obligation that sums up the Ten Commandments regarding human relationships. He urges believers to extend this love beyond the church, fostering peace with neighbors and facilitating the spread of the gospel. This approach ensures believers live at peace with society. We fulfill the entire law by embracing this debt of love, liberating believers from the impossible task of perfectly meeting every legal demand to focus on the always possible act of loving others. The debt of love is the fulfillment of the Law, which can only happen when we live in His light, clothed in Christ.
